A leading and crucial state government organisation that supports the lives of millions across Queensland are seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineer. Working from their headquarters in Newstead (along with working from home), you will be supporting a variety of technologies and projects that underpin the running and operation of this organisation.
Your new role
Established many years ago to service the needs of Queenslanders all throughout the state, this Brisbane headquartered government organisation are undergoing several technological based initiatives to enhance the lives of those living across the region.
Working within the Digital Technology Directorate and reporting into the Technical Director, your new role will see you work within a highly specialised and multi-disciplinary team of Infrastructure, Systems & Project Engineers. With this teams focus on maintaining, upgrading and deploying technical solutions to be used across the organisation, your role will be multifaceted.
Working across the whole organisation to support their IT systems, network and infrastructure technologies in use, your day-to-day responsibilities will vary. Conducting support at a senior level on everything including Windows Server administration, password resets, VMWare management, Active Directory config and everything in-between are all such examples.
Alongside these support activities there will also be project-based work whether that be cloud migrations (365, Azure, etc), platform implementations/roll outs (MS Dynamics, SharePoint, etc) or any other digital transformation/uplift pieces of work (road map dependent).
You will also be conducting non-hands-on work such as creating technology road maps, planning roll outs, organising systems upgrades and managing vendors amongst other higher-level duties.

What you'll need to succeed
You will need experience/knowledge across (in no particular order) the following:
- Windows 11 administration
- SCCM and/or Microsoft Intune
- Windows Server (2008 onwards)
- Security and firewall technology including ISO27001 Essential 8 remediation
- SAN management and support
- Virtualization (VMWare and Hyper-V)
- Disaster recovery processes and technology
- Networking infrastructure design and maintenance
- Industry qualifications in Microsoft Windows, Active Directory and ITIL
- Experience with Citrix and remote computing
- Vendor Management
- Work with individuals across all levels of an organisation
- Clear and perfect communication skills (both spoken and written)
- Full Australian working rights
- Currently residing in Australia (those outside will not be considered)
What you'll get in return
You will be offered an initial contract up until December 24th 2025 (with potential to extend) with flexible working arrangements paying 85.31 per hour plus super with a leading government organisation in Brisbane (Newstead).
