In your new role in this leadership position,
You will take charge of statutory planning functions, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, including the Planning and Environment Act 1987. Your key responsibilities will include:
Leading and mentoring a dynamic team of planners to achieve organisational goals.
Overseeing the assessment of major, complex, and sensitive planning applications.
Developing policies, procedures, and strategies to enhance statutory planning services.
Representing the council at planning forums, VCAT hearings, and community engagement initiatives.
Building strong connections between statutory implementation and policy development, fostering alignment across departments. This is a highly rewarding opportunity where your expertise will directly contribute to shaping the future of the community and delivering outcomes that make a difference.
What you'll need to succeed:
Extensive experience in statutory planning, particularly in interpreting and applying the Planning and Environment Act 1987 and related regulations.
Proven leadership abilities to guide and inspire a team, ensuring clarity of roles and high performance.
Exceptional problem-solving skills and the capacity to make informed decisions in complex scenarios.
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with a track record of managing relationships with government bodies, referral authorities, and community groups.
