Are you ready to make a significant impact in the procurement and delivery of essential commodities for the Department of Defence? Toll has teamed up with the Commonwealth to develop a scalable and agile solution that enhances the purchase and distribution process.
As a Procurement Specialist , you will play a crucial role managing activities related to sourcing new products (as requested by the customer), including managing suppliers, running tenders, and uploading approved products to our online catalogue to provide value for money for our customer. You will have the responsibility to maintain the accuracy and currency of existing products on the catalogue.
This is key role that supports the Commonwealth in reducing the cost of ownership for Defence commodities by applying 'smart buyer' principles. You'll help simplify the procurement, delivery, and management of these vital resources.
To be successful as the Procurement Specialist, you will need to:
- Product Sourcing and Recommendations: Execute new product sourcing activities and provide best value recommendations for a range of products.
- Supplier Management: Actively manage supplier performance and engagement, and build and maintain relationships with suppliers.
- Product Catalogue Management: Manage the initial upload and maintenance of all products on the online product catalogue.
- Issue Resolution and Customer Engagement: Resolve product issues, attend customer meetings, and proactively advise customers on service deviations.
- Reporting and Performance Tracking: Provide regular performance and tracking reports to internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers.
- Teamwork and Continuous Improvement: Show teamwork, cooperate across departments, and identify performance and quality improvements.
About You:
- Supply Chain / Business Undergraduate or Masters preferred
- Operational Procurement experience in a similar environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution, negotiation, and presentation abilities, with a proven capacity to establish and maintain effective empathy and rapport with personnel at all levels, both within and external to Toll.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage customer interactions, excel in customer service, solve problems analytically, and utilise ERP systems (such as SAP) and Microsoft Office/Excel Intermediate to advanced level in a supply chain environment with strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for business management, with a strong understanding of expectations, company organisation structures, and reporting lines, combined with practical experience in a customer service/operational environment and the ability to develop further.
