Spatial Officer

About the role: As a Spatial Officer, you will produce and maintain spatial products to support business decision-making.

Key responsibilities:
- Assist with the interpretation, modelling, and analysis of spatial information.
- Provide timely and efficient customer-focused services, including cartographic outputs, map layers, and reports.
- Maintain and enhance Council's spatial data sets.
- Use the Freshservice Service Management System to resolve incidents, access, and service requests related to Council's Spatial Information Systems (ArcGIS, Nearmap, Geocortex, or similar).
About you:
- Tertiary qualifications in spatial or geographic information systems, land information, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with contemporary Spatial Information System software.
- Knowledge of spatial information principles for local government, including land and property divisions/cadastre, planning instruments/zoning, and land title information.
- Experience using datasets provided by business areas and developing map layers to support business decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain and optimise data sets for spatial information, including data cleansing and quality maintenance.
- Ability to work with business users to determine their spatial information needs and develop products to meet those needs.
- Experience in providing user support to resolve incidents, access requests, and service requests related to Council's Spatial Information System software.
- Experience in consulting and sharing information with customers and technical staff, working collaboratively to achieve Council outcomes.
- Desirable: Experience in developing scripts to manipulate data, experience with SQL databases, and ITIL certification or understanding of ITIL principles and practices.
