- Rate: $76.50 - $85.30 p/h + Super (AO6 - AO7 equivalent)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Principal Policy Officer to lead high-level policy, research, and systemic review projects focused on improving outcomes for victims of crime. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to important reform and policy work that makes a difference in the lives of Queenslanders. You'll work closely with stakeholders from across government, support services, and the community to develop policy advice, research reports, and recommendations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage end-to-end systemic review and policy projects
- Conduct complex research and analysis into issues affecting victims of crime
- Develop high-quality policy advice, reports, and recommendations for government and non-government agencies
- Consult and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including people with lived experience
- Prepare discussion papers, ministerial briefs, and correspondence tailored for various audiences
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive team culture while mentoring junior team members
About You
Key Skills & Attributes:
- Demonstrated experience in project management and policy analysis
- Strong communication and analytical skills
- Strong written skills with experience preparing high-level documents and reports
- Strong experience in policy development or systemic reform-ideally in the criminal justice or human services sectors
- Ability to interpret legislation, policy frameworks, and complex social issues
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement, especially in sensitive or complex policy environments
- High level of cultural capability and commitment to inclusive, ethical practice
- Ability to work independently, manage competing deadlines, and drive outcomes
Eligibility Requirements
- Full working rights required
- A Criminal History Check will be required
- A background in law, criminology, policy, or a related field is highly desirable
