This job offer is full time employment with the Environmental Health team at Wagga Wagga City Council as a Trainee Environmental Health Officer.

  • Work with a supportive award-winning team
  • Remuneration commencing from $1606.60 gross per fortnight plus superannuation
  • Day-to-day mentoring for study, training, and work

In this six-year traineeship you will:

  • study part-time a bachelor degree in environmental health at Western Sydney University by distance
  • have paid study leave and tutoring
  • have university fees paid for all subjects that you pass
  • have structured on-the-job training
  • be part of the Aboriginal Trainee Environmental Health Officer network

You will work in the office and out in the community:

  • inspecting swimming pools, food, skin penetration and other businesses
  • responding to enquiries and investigating complaints
  • educating people to protect health and the environment

Job Requirements:

About you:

  • an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person by descent and identity who is recognised as such by the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community*
  • able to successfully enroll for the Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health) at the Western Sydney University
  • a resident of NSW
  • committed to completing a degree part-time while working full-time
  • good communication and writing skills
  • able to work independently and within a team
  • have, or be working towards getting a drivers licence

Subject to your acceptance into the Approved Course of Study, you will be employed for a nominal period and will continue for the duration of your Approved Course of Study commencing January 2025.
