About our team

Our purpose in the People Branch is to provide the human resource building blocks to enable people to thrive at work and improve the lives of all Australians. We do this by partnering and collaborating with stakeholders, using our knowledge, experience and judgement to enable people and business areas to perform at their best.
 

The Inclusion and Diversity Team is one of 5 sections within People Branch. The team drives the inclusion and diversity agenda and conversations in PM&C to foster an inclusive and safe culture. This includes supporting PM&C’s Diversity Networks, the Reconciliation Working Group (RAPWG), Senior Champions, diversity and inclusion initiatives, training and events. Our forward focus is implementing PM&C’s new Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2024-27 once endorsed, and continuing to embed the PM&C Inclusion and Diversity Strategy 2023-26.
 

What you’ll be doing

We have two exciting and important opportunities available in Inclusion & Diversity.

The RAP Implementation Lead (Affirmative Measures Indigenous position)

This is a new role, designed to lead the implementation of the new PM&C Reconciliation Action Plan 2024-2027 across PM&C, working in collaboration with senior stakeholders, the Mara Network (PM&C’s network of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees), the PM&C RAP Working Group and PM&C staff. The role has a strong organisational focus, leading internal and internal reconciliation monitoring and reporting activities, raising awareness and information sharing on reconciliation activities, secretariat support to the RAPWG, planning and delivery of events for example during Reconciliation week, and establishing standard operating procedures and templates.
 

Team Leader, Inclusion & Diversity

As Team Leader (EL1), Inclusion and Diversity you will lead a small team and budget, in collaboration with senior stakeholders and networks across PM&C to lead PM&Cs inclusion and diversity work program. You will oversee the delivery of the PM&C Inclusion and Diversity Strategy 2023-26, including inclusion and diversity initiatives and projects, support employee-led diversity networks and senior Champions, prepare items for consideration by the PM&C Inclusion and Diversity Committee, provide detailed internal and external reporting, contribute subject matter expertise on diversity and inclusion matters including APS-wide strategies and best practice, liaise with external networks, industry bodies and stakeholders, support training and event management.

Our ideal candidate will perform at the Executive Level 1 classification in accordance with the PM&C Performance model. Our ideal candidate will:
 

  • have the ability to lead projects and evaluation
  • manage a core program of work
  • work closely with members of a small team
  • have a knack for communicating clearly, concisely and convincingly (including in written analysis and briefings)
  • have impressive collaboration and stakeholder relationship skills

You will have the ability to:

  • work with a range of people of different backgrounds, skills and work styles good judgement
  • navigate through ambiguity, and the confidence to make sound recommendations/decisions dedication to improving the employee experience and curiosity to seek out, learn, and implement best practice approaches
  • interpret and apply employment policies and legislation.

Experience contributing to and/or an understanding of Reconciliation action planning and the National Agreement on Closing the Gap (in particular Priority Reform 3) is an advantage. Relevant qualifications and/or experience in related roles is highly desirable.
 

Team Leader, Inclusion & Diversity

Relevant qualifications and/or experience in related roles is highly desirable. Understanding of APS-wide diversity strategies and diversity and inclusion trends and research is an advantage.

Eligibility

·    To be eligible for this position you must be an Australian Citizen.

·    The occupant must be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected) level security clearance, or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level. 

·    The successful candidate will be required to be assessed through our pre-employment screening checks, such as an Australian Criminal History Check
