About the Opportunity

Location: Boorloo (Perth WA)
Employment Type: Part Time (0.5 FTE)

Remuneration: $74,935.73 - $79,931.44 per annum pro rata + superannuation + salary sacrifice

Are you passionate ear and hearing health? Do you want to help reduce preventable ear disease? The Aboriginal Health Council of Western Australia (AHCWA) is seeking a talented Ear Health Program Officer to join our passionate team and champion our mission of achieving health equality for Aboriginal people across WA.

As our Ear Health Program Officer, you’ll play a crucial role in helping achieve our vision and mission. Here’s how you’ll contribute:

  • Support the Ear Health Program Coordinator to achieve deliverables and outcomes for the Ear and Hearing Health Strategy.
  • Support services to access or develop ear and hearing health promotion activities / events.
  • Undertake audits and collect / collate data relevant to the program deliverables and draft reports as required.
  • Proactively engage with Member Services' to effectively promote and share continuous quality improvement and best practice standards.
  • Assist services to streamline referral pathways between ACCHS's and other ear and hearing health providers and tertiary care.

Job Requirements:

About You

We’re looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

  • Relevant clinical knowledge and/or demonstrable health / community program experience.
  • Understanding of the issues including social determinants affecting Aboriginal people's health status in contemporary Australia society.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills including negotiation and consultation skills and the ability to proactively establish and sustain effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to develop networks with community and government stakeholders.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to effectively plan, organise and coordinate own workload and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to uphold the principles of cultural safety including an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Ideally, in addition to the above, we are looking for a candidate who identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, and is accepted as such by their community, and has, or is working towards, a relevant tertiary qualification in a relevant field of Aboriginal Health, Health Promotion and/or Ear Health.

The position involves working within a multicultural organisation where the majority of workplace participants, clients and stakeholders identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. 
 
Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
 

Please note: In addition to the above skills and experience, the successful candidate will require an unrestricted WA “C” Class Driver’s Licence, and be required to submit a National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months) prior to appointment.
