About us

Legal Aid NSW helps people with their legal problems. We can help people with most areas of criminal law, family law and every day civil law legal issues. We give legal advice, help at court and do family dispute resolution. We can do this over the telephone or at one of our 28 offices.

About the role

Caseworkers work collaboratively with family litigation lawyers to assist vulnerable clients who are going through family law and/or care and protection matters. Caseworkers provide case management support to address the psychosocial needs of clients, including psychosocial assessment, risk assessment and safety planning, referral assistance, support in attending court as well as other services.

The role at Lismore will also provide service to our Coffs Harbour family litigation team and the role at Wagga Wagga will also provide service to our Albury family litigation team.

About you

The successful applicant will have proven experience providing case management support to address the psychosocial needs of vulnerable and disadvantaged clients with complex needs. You will have experience working with people who have experienced domestic and family violence, people with complex trauma histories and people experiencing difficulties with mental health and/or substance use.

You will be client-focused and able to manage complex client situations in a sensitive, culturally appropriate and trauma-informed manner.  You will also have sound interpersonal and communication skills and be able to build strong relationships with clients, lawyers, and paralegals to support service delivery to clients.

We may use this recruitment to create a talent pool for similar ongoing or temporary vacancies we have over the next 18 months.
