About us
Legal Aid NSW helps people with their legal problems. We can help people with most areas criminal law, family law and every day civil law legal issues. We give legal advice, help at court and do family dispute resolution. We can do this over the telephone or at one of our 28 offices.
 
About the role
The Closing the Gap Senior Project Officer brings their experience and understanding, focusing on challenges which are related to the criminal justice system through the over-representation of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people.
 
The Senior Project Officer will manage and coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of Criminal Division's Closing the Gap projects. The role works closely with Criminal Division staff and the Crime Executive as well as a range of justice agencies and external stakeholders which support the justice targets and other organisational objectives.

Applicants for this role must satisfy the Aboriginality criteria. Aboriginality is defined by descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community as such. In the pre-screening questions you will need to provide information on how you satisfy the Aboriginality criteria. 
 
About you
The successful candidate will have proven experience in managing and overseeing project plans, development and implementations of projects relating to the criminal justice system. You will have sound knowledge and ability to provide advice and information at senior level.
 
You will have strong negotiation skills to establish and maintain strong internal and external relationships. You will have exceptional time management skills to ensure project deliverables are met.
