Legal Aid NSW helps people with their legal problems. We can help people with most areas criminal law, family law and every day civil law legal issues. We give legal advice, help at court and do family dispute resolution. We can do this over the telephone or at one of our 28 offices.
 
About the role
 
In this role, you will
·       Supervise, lead, guide, develop, train, and monitor an Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) team of Mediation Organisers in the delivery of high quality, client-focused mediation services in accordance with Legal Aid NSW policy and budget requirements.
·       Manage operational HR matters (leave, performance, recruitment etc).
·       Assess, Administer, and organise mediation services as required in Family Law, Care and Protection, Property matters, and other areas as identified within policy, guidelines, and delegations. 
·       Contribute to the development of systems and practices for Legal Aid FDR; and manage the development and allocation of services for the work of the team based on operational experience, and contacts with internal and external stakeholders.
 
About you
 
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate sound skills and relevant experience in managing a team in a busy and demanding work environment, with team members working in different locations. Experience working in family law or dispute resolution would be an advantage.
 
You will be able to work collaboratively with management to achieve the stated goals and objectives of the FDR unit, while also providing appropriate and extensive support and guidance to all the members of your team.
 
You will be a good communicator and have excellent administrative and time management skill. You will also have the ability to contribute to the development of systems and practices for Legal aid DRU and have the ability to work across multiple platforms and applications.
 
 
We may use this recruitment to create a talent pool for similar ongoing or temporary vacancies we have over the next 18 months.

The essential requirements for this role
 
You must:

·       be willing to do a Criminal Record Check and/or Working with Children Check
·       hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies)
 
The Family Law Division have a number of roles where it is a statutory obligation for staff to hold a valid Working With Children Check. You will be required to provide your Working With Children Check details prior to commencement in any role requiring the check.
