Whitehaven is the emerging force in the Australian coal mining industry.

Whitehaven Coal is Australia’s largest independent coal producer and the leading coal producer in North West New South Wales.

We currently operate six mines in North West NSW; five open cut mines at Maules Creek, Tarrawonga, Rocglen, Werris Creek and Sunnyside and one underground mine at Narrabri. These sites produce thermal and metallurgical coal bound primarily for export markets in North and South Asia.

Our overall workforce is more than 1,400 strong, with around 75 per cent of our employees living in the local communities around where our operations are based.

Whitehaven strives for operational excellence and in 2016 was awarded the NSW Minerals Council Mining Operation of the Year.
