The Fred Hollows Foundation is inspired by the work of the late Professor Fred Hollows (1929-1993).
Since 1999, The Fred Hollows Foundation has been working to close the gap in health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Working closely with our partners across Australia, our Indigenous Australia Program team works to ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples can always exercise their rights to sight, good health and self-determination.
The Foundation is determined to be a key global player in ending avoidable blindness.
Focus on international development and collaboration
Fred believed local people were best placed to deliver health care to their communities. The Foundation seeks to strengthen and sustain local systems, both internationally and in our Indigenous Program. We bring resource, knowledge and capacity building to partners who contribute their own knowledge, capabilities and resources. We work together to achieve our ambitious goal.
With passionate and focused people, we are able to achieve the great things we do. At The Fred Hollows Foundation we invest in developing our people and giving them a chance to do what they do best.
